Anniversary Trip | Dundee

As you may have seen in my last Week In Photos post, Adam and I celebrated our three year anniversary last weekend by going on a little trip to Dundee. It wasn't somewhere that we first thought of going as we didn't think there would be much to do there but there was; and we had a great time!

As always, click the photos to enlarge!

Bright Eyes | Best Products

I am never able to sleep at any kind of reasonable time, and if I'm working I need to be up really early, so I constantly have dark circles under my eyes. Over the years I've built up a core collection of products which help to conceal them and improve the appearance of my under-eye area overall. I've tried lots of different products for this purpose but these four are definitely my favourites, so if you're a night owl like me, you might want to invest in some of these!

Benefit It's Potent Eye Cream Review

Benefit It's Potent Eye Cream

Rather than simply concealing dark circles, this product fades them, so hopefully after a while you won't need to worry about covering them up any more! It's specifically designed to brighten the eyes and features apple extract and burnet, an old favourite remedy of the Chinese, so it's full of good things.

Benefit Ooh La Lift Review

Benefit Ooh La Lift

I use this after my eye cream and before any other make-up. It's light reflecting so instantly brightens up your under-eye area. I also find it to be a really good base for the rest of my eye make-up so that's a good bonus! I really like this product because it does work, and on days where I've had barely any sleep the night before, this is a life saver!

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer Review

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer

Chances are, you'll have already heard all about this concealer. It's become a bit of a cult product in the beauty world and it's easy to see why. It's the only concealer I've used for at least a year now, and I don't see myself trying a new one any time soon. It works so well all over the face, but its light reflecting properties make it perfect for under the eyes. It's a total bargain at just over £4 so if you haven't tried it yet, what are you waiting for?

Sleek Bad Girl Palette Review

Sleek Eye Shadow in Innocence (first shadow in the photo)

It's a pretty well-known make-up tip to put a white eye shadow in the inner corner of your eyes to brighten them up and make you look more awake. One of my favourite shadows for this use is the Sleek one in Innocence. It's in my Bad Gal palette (pictured) which I don't think is available any more, and I'm not sure if it's in any other ones - let me know if it is! It's a great true white and Sleek eye shadows are always so pigmented. It's also good to use under the brow as a highlight.

What are your favourite products to brighten your eyes? Have you tried any of these ones?

My Week In Photos #12

1. At work on Monday we got given a new uniform in a wonderful neon green colour...
2. Adam came to mine after work and we watched My Little Eye - I wouldn't recommend it!
3.On Wednesday we went to see Kick Ass 2 and it was great - if you liked the first one, definitely go see this!
4.I dyed my hair on Thursday and it finally went a colour that I'm actually quite happy with.
5. Adam and I exchanged anniversary presents on Friday and he bought me and amazing limited edition Harry Potter box set. I love it!
6. Packing my suitcase on Saturday.
7. On Sunday (our actual anniversary), we went on a wee trip to Dundee - here's us on the bus. I'll write a post all about our trip over the next few days.
8. Champagne in our fancy hotel room before going out for dinner!
9. The hotel receptionist took this photo of us when we got back.

Sorry I'm posting this late, but as you can see from the photos, I was away this weekend so I've only just got home. I've had a really good few days and I had so much fun celebrating Adam and I's three year anniversary! A big post about our trip will be posted soon so keep an eye out for that.

Tell me about your week!

OOTD | Vintage Festival

I know I'm super late with this post since the Vintage Festival was about three weeks ago now but better late than never!

This year, as part of the Merchant City Festival, Vintage came to Glasgow. I had been looking forward to it for months so I was so excited when the day finally came! Unfortunately, I didn't take as many photos as I had planned, so this little OOTD will have to be my only post about the festival.

I was supposed to be getting my hair done at the festival but when I got there, they were fully booked up. I was so disappointed because I hadn't done anything to my hair that morning and then it turned out I had to walk around like that all day and it completely ruined my outfit! Thankfully, my mum came to the rescue with kirbies as she was in town that day too, and I managed to fix it up a little bit but it still wasn't great. So that's why my hair isn't in some kind of lovely vintage style!

Did you go to the Vintage Festival?

Lucky 7 Canteen | Glasgow

Lucky 7 Canteen Glasgow

I've been interested in going to the Lucky 7 Canteen for quite a long time, so last Friday Adam and I popped in for dinner before going to the cinema. We both really liked it so I thought I'd write a post about it and hopefully encourage some of you to check it out!

Note: I didn't have my camera with me so I only have a few rubbish photos from my phone. All the rest were found on google images.

My Week In Photos #11

1. I watched Dracula on Monday and was quite disappointed at how different it was to the book!
2. I cleared out under my bed on Tuesday and found my nursery photo from 1997 - I'm the one in the 2nd row, far left with the flowery dress!
3. Myself on my way to a night out with my work on Wednesday.
4. Dinner at the Lucky 7 Canteen with Adam on Friday night - I'll have a post up about it on the next few days.
5. We then went to see The Conjuring - read my review here.
6. We missed our bus after the film so we sat on the big stairs at the Concert Hall for a while and there was something really nice about it.
7. Yesterday Adam and I decided to be big kids and go to the new swing park near his house, and I ended up with a friction burn from the slide haha - maybe a sign we shouldn't have been there?
8. Today I put loads of my old CDs and DVDs on Music Magpie to make a bit of extra money and clear some space in my room.

Click on the photo to see a bigger version! I've been using my Instasize app a lot more recently so I can't put the photos in the grid I used to use as it doesn't look right. I'll try and find a nicer way of presenting them for next week!

P.S Don't forget you can use my code "shannondarko" for 20% off your order at Motel Rocks!

Tell me about you week! Have you seen The Conjuring?

The Conjuring Review

As soon as I saw the trailer for The Conjuring, I knew I had to see it. I love horror films but have to admit I am quite often disappointed by them as not many really scare me. This looked really creepy though, so I saw it with Adam the day it came out and I was not let down.
